The Film Festival of Columbus strives to create an experience that will bring a
new and diverse cultural event to the area. The festival aims to bring people together,
showcasing seasoned and rising filmmakers and extraordinary work from around
the world. While promoting Columbus, Ohio as a filmmaking destination for all budgets,
FFOCOL represents a turning point in the city's creative scene.
It is through the art of cinema that we foster a community that is more engaged,
aware and alive. The festival is an invitation only format picking the best and
brightest of up-and-coming independent films and their directors. Through seminars,
Q&As with the Ohio Film Office and The Greater Columbus Film Commission, and
possible location scouts, the festival strives to raise awareness of Columbus and
Ohio as a filmmakers destination.
FFOCOL will last a full week running September 21-29, 2013. The film festival is
collaborating with the annual Columbus event Independents' Day, a three-day music
and arts festival located in downtown Columbus. FFOCOL's opening night will
feature a screening at The Vault on Gay St and an after-party at the same location. The
remaining eight days of FFOCOL will be held at The Gateway Film Center, central Ohio's first dedicatedfilm center.
